Im going to eventually delete the comments in here sorry guys, my fault, they are just too untidy, all comments are duly noted though, all comments and suggestions are much appreciated.
I have spoken to Smid about getting the gigs all updated and hope this can be done soon, with maybe extra or additional details added in :)
Hi everybody, great site
I saw the skids during the tour promoting The Absolute Game and it was probably january/february 1981 as RJ commented on Woman in Winter should have been the christmas number 1. I can't remember the exact date but it was a superb gig and forever stuck in the memory bank. One of the two support bands was On the air containing Tony Butler, The other band of which the name escapes me had Bruce Watson in I think.
Edit....after doing a bit of research on the Big Country site, Casbah club rings a bell and if so Mark Brzezicki seems to have been in both bands.......I do remember telling people a few years later that I saw Big Country playing in different bands on the same night before they were Big Country.
the 1st time all big country members were actually at the same gig was skids stirling uni 1st dec,stuart in skids, mark and tony in support band on the air and bruce in the crowd.
oxford apollo gig was 14th dec 1980,bruce watson was not playing in any support band on that tour,on the air had mark and tony from big country

There were a few roudy blokes at the front who were pissing Stuart off by shouting 'Albert Tatlock' all the way through until RJ threatened them with one of his guitar solo's....very funny and did the trick.
I remember the Skids headlined The Meadows Festival (on the back of a Store milk wagon!). The date is one forever branded on most Scots memories. It was 3rd June 1978 the same day we got humped 3-1 by Peru in the Argentina World Cup. I remember Mr Jobson saying to the sound man (who was taking an age over something technical) and I quote directly "Hurry up ya baldy bastard we want tae get hame for the match!" Needless to say the band were head and shoulders above the other bands. The other bands I remember are The Valves (of course) who headlined the next year I think and The Monos "Pissing On The Patio" being their stand out song. Anybody else remember this gig?

Don't tell me Huddersfield 12/12/80 was the last gig the Skids played in Britain with Stuart? If so my hometown is cursed as 3 years before that it hosted the last British Sex Pistols gig on 25/12/77 before the band imploded in the US.

Being an Alloa boy at the time, I notice that your list of gigs makes no mention of the famous Town Hall gig. Unfortunately 30 years later, I am unable to recall the exact date. But I was there. I also recall an early gig at the Pathfoot (Stirling Uni) where the boys supported the Rezillos. Shortly after that, sometime in mid 1978, I had occasion to get on a bus going form Dunfermline to Stirling, through Alloa, to a Cuban Heels gig at Stirling Uni with Ricky Jobson and Clive (the roaddie). Happy days.
alloa town hall gig was 27th may 78 (my birthday)
stirling uni pathfoot was 17th march 78 (not my birthday :))
OK SMID. Do you recall a gig at the old Heriot Watt cafe, downstairs at Grindley Street. It would have been early 79 or late 78, because I went to HW in October 1979 as a 1st yr student and remember telling people about the concert. At the time, we were at School (Alloa Academy) and only one of us had a driving licence, so we all piled into his dad's car an off we went. Because we were still at school, we had to hi jack a couple of drunk students to sign us in. Once in it was a great gig, with Stuart letting us sing along to Sweet Suburbia on his mike.

Hi, I have mentioned a few gigs that were played round West Yorkshire with Kieran. Thanks for the Huddersfield dates. I just wondered if you have the date for my first ever gig? It was at Bradford University in the Communal Building around May 79. They did play again at Bradford Uni but that was in the Great Hall as you have listed 18th Oct 80. Roll on March 6th

they sure did mate,they played there dec 2nd 1980 sandwiched inbetween stirling uni and dundee uni,managed all 3 looking forward to another trio!

Smid is a genius. Hey, we really need to get the gigs page sorted. It is fun watching it evolve but seems to be more gigs out there that are not on here. Are all the overseas gigs on here? And what about a bit of context: what release were they supporting, what shows did JJ help sort, any idea of set lists?
