Strength Through Joy

Strength Through Joy

While I'm on a roll here, with regard to the bonus album STJ (Which again I think is a treasure of an album) does anyone have any background info on the making of this album. I'm curious as I also possess an album by Bill NELSON (The Love that Whirls) which was also issued with a bonus album called the Cabinet of Dr Caligari (I think from memory) and when I listened to passages of it it reminded me of STJ. I think the Nelson album predates STJ but I am wondering if there was a definite influence there in parts. Clearly it is well known of the Nelson connection to the band but can anyone enlighten me with any relevant info on this. Just curious.

the recordings actually took

the recordings actually took place at manor mobile studio, apparently stuart went home for the weekend and jobby and webb(no mike b?) spent friday nite and sat  afternoon experimenting with sounds and riffs,"by monday evening we had 5 skeletal tracks to play to stuart,he grabbed his guitar and let rip, those skeletons grew shiny flesh and a blood supply and strength through joy was born" .lifted from tag sleeve notes written by webb

Thanks for that info SMID,

Thanks for that info SMID, that does indeed shed light on the creation of that album. I always thought 'what if' they had kept going as the TAG four piece band and had continued with the sound ideas created on STJ. A wonderful little album that I wish had led to similar soundscapes being explored. Thanks again.

Dino.
