For those who are unaware, a Big Country fan from Wigan (Gwenda Matthews) has for some time now been coordinating a fundraising project and liaising with Fife Council to have a permanent memorial bench placed in Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline (known locally as The Glen) entirely financed by fans of Stuart Adamson and those bands with which he is synonymous.
The funds include those raised at the last major Skids Fans Gathering for a similar project at that time which was never completed.
The bench has now been manufactured and engraved with several sets of Stuart’s lyrics and fitted with a commemorative plaque.
Following a meeting between Gwenda Matthews and Colin Gourlay with two Council Reps in the Glen on Friday afternoon, they have now determined an agreed date for the unveiling of the bench on Saturday 24th September around 12:00 and a short dedication ceremony will take place at this time in a temporary location to the east of the pond until a permanent location is prepared on the west side of the pond following some new landscaping works to be completed before December 16th 2011 (the tenth anniversary of his passing).

Cob,any chance of posting some directions for us "Toonies"?Would Dunfermline Town station be the best bet. Thanks mate.
yes dunfermline town for definite!
quickest and most direct route would be out the station, turn left, head towards a walk bridge that goes across the dual carriageway.
across walkbridge, across dual carriageway
then keep to the path on your left, you will see railway bridge and archways keep heading west you will see the brig cafe (chipshop) across the road.
keep heading along towards traffic lights, at traffic lights there is a pub called the lynne tavern same side of the road, car wash on other side of the road
straight across the traffic lights there are big gates leading into pittencrieff park (the glen)
keep following that road up and slight right had bend and you are about 100 yards from the glen pavilion :)
if you get lost fone mobile 07866 244 383 and someone will guide you in to land :)
i hope that helps i did that without using google or multimap :)

Surely "...who knows where all our days go" should have a question mark at the end else it is nonsense ?? Stuart asked a question, not made a statement. Even if he was talking about Dr Who, then "who" should be capitalized. :-)
A bench ? A bench ? Fine genorosity on the part of the fans who paid for it, but still unbefitting and almost insulting.
Even Richard Dunn had a Leisure Centre named after him.
would have to disagree and agree at the same time, i like the idea of the bench, dont think its is anywhere near insulting thats my disagree
my agree is that something bigger and beter should also be done as well as the bench :)
