he dosen't look like hes sleepwalking
question: which band and single had 'somnambulist' as a b side?
That'd be XTC and was part of Generals Majors double pack. Dont lose your temper was another great track on it.
What is the Skids link to a concept(ish) album centred on Somnambulism?
Brian G
Good shout Geo....spot on! Loved XTC...I had tickets to see them in 1982 for the "English Settlement" tour....Unfortunately Andy Partridge finally gave up touring due to nerves and the concert was cancelled on the actual day....never got to see them live...d'oh! Still, a great band and completely underated!
I wonder if the song will feature in the film?....hmmmmm
I missed my first (and last) chance to see XTC on the english settlement tour too. I hadnt heard it was off and turned up at Manchester apollo to find the gig was cancelled
.
Like you say Kamdude they still remained a great band. The Apple venus/Wasp star albums at the end of their career showed they had a lot still to offer many moons after the aborted tour.
managed to catch xtc for the only time in edinburgh odeon 79 around about the time of skids festival gig, sure it was the following week or there about, thought they were great, making plans for nigel had just been released.wished i had seen them touring the black sea,one of my all time fav albums.
Yeah...Black Sea was a truely great album...okay...as I now don my anorak, have a look at the original Virgin catalogue numbers for Black Sea and The Absolute Game....they sit right next to each other...two great albums from two great bands...that would have been a gig....XTC and the Skids....mmmmmmm....
