Meeting the Boys & Girls from the bus on Friday night going to Glasgow. Top class You know who you are and a BIG SHOUTto Smid for organising it. King Tuts – Star struck or what? Got interviewed by hospital radio outside at meet & greet. 1st time I've ever been speechless. Getting caught steeling FREE posters The atmosphere, the fans, the band, the music. The best weekend ever. Looking forward to seeing you all again.
LOL
Yes highlights ...
Interviewed for the local radio and watching the interviewer getting more lost for words than me (I think)
Laughing at a few dodgy Skids fans "stealing" "FREE" posters from the walls (class) and then trying to put them back after the staples were ripped out of them or unfolding them again!!! total comedy
Meeting loads of Skids fans and giving them free stuff!
Cue-ing up Skids songs for the fans to listen to in the lounge at The Old Inn.
Getting a few pints bought for me (always a bonus) thanks guys you know who you are :)
Hearing a lot of funny stories .... man! I still have a wee giggle :)
Did you hear about the guy that bought Scared To Dance , got it home and opened it up and it was Blue !!! and was gonnae take it back to the shop cause it was the wrong colour?
The amount of people asking where Smid was ... who Smid was ..... if he was coming down to The Old Inn etc etc :) brilliant
Mainly being able to give Skids fans a wee welcome and a pre-gig warm up, for me that was class, takes away the money or corporate side of the music business for a wee while
too much of that money and self importance stuff goes on so it was good to have a wee break from it.
and think there might have been a gig I was at on the Saturday night ?

Highlights for me were - finding out that everything they say about the Scots and drinking is true after stopping off for a 'quick couple' at the Seven Kings pub on Friday night, meeting the band on Saturday, finding out that Scotland really is a beautiful place to go and of course Saturday night watching a nigh on 50 year old dancing badly while looking like he was having the time of his life. Extra special moment was the whole crowd singing the chorus of Woman in Winter between two other tracks - felt part of something very special.
Thanks to all the band, all the people of Scotland that I met, fantastic place and fantastic people. Cant wait to make the trip up from London again in the summer for family break.
brilliant Sean :) glad you enjoyed

Cheers Cob, hopefully this wont be last we seen the band on stage, if they do play again hopefully I'll be there, my 8 year old wants to learn to play some of the Skids stuff on his guitar now after watching some of the stuff on you tube, looks like lessons time... Where were you in The Old Inn? Where you up in the top room?
hey that sounds great! a few Skids riffs are always handy when learning the guitar :)
Yes I was in the Old Inn, in the lounge area through the back, was back in today and they said they done over 100 meals and once meals were finished it was fairly busy for most of the night, and all great banter and great atmosphere as well as some great music getting played :) and after the gig they had folks coming back to end the night, great wee place and great staff, couldnt have asked for a better weekend :)
Did you pop into the Old Inn at any point?

Redeeming my life story
Certainly did, came in around 6.30 and stayed for a couple before heading off to the gig. Was fairly hectic then. My 'wee man' has only just got his guitar and will be starting lessons in a couple weeks, no one in our house plays an instrument so it will be a long slog i think, although a friend did teach him the intro to Smoke on the Water on one string! Which is more than I can do. Have you seen the guy on YouTube under the heading 'Skids guitar riffs'?
Ive seen a few good youtube stuff , dont play much myself nowadays but also showed my kid one stringers like smoke on the water and wild thing :)
there are decent books for beginners that start of learning chords then learning 2 chord songs, then 3 chord songs etc but watching other people play is a great way to learn, youtube is great as are DVDs' as you can rewind again and again until you get it right :)
A few years time m8 you never know you could be doing duets with the wee lad at parties ..... ahoy hoy!!!

Dunno about that, thats the best thing about going to gigs, drink beer and sing all your favourites songs really loud - and badly..... I'm a frustrated out of time drummer anyway:)
Teflon the Guy on youtube doing the Skids Riffs is Alan Castledine and posts on here.
Good Lad is Al, he always comes to Dunfy with us. He flies from the Midlands. Shit Hot Guitarist too.
Has anyone on here seen Germo play Guitar?
